This workshop explains Google Search and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Google My Business, Google StreetView, Google AdWords, Google Analytics and G Suite and gives you the ability to go explore further.

The hands-on parts of the workshop guides the attendees to set up and continue to manage their own accounts. We talk about using free tools to get your business found in Google through search, on maps, through photos and 360 walkthroughs using StreetView. Imagine inviting your customer right into your showroom, retail store, display area or office! Using StreetView you can do just that.

To make the most of the Google tools we do a great exercise to research the keywords that will work for your business. The results will surprise you! This highlights how important it is to test and measure your keywords and check in with your customers or target market personas about the keywords they would use to search for your business.

We learn about on page and off page SEO and the impact that your social pages can have on Google search results. You might not realise it, but your own Facebook pages can make a big difference.

Setting up a free Google My Business page is an essential part of your online presence, and a great way to draw customers to your business. We set up a My Business listing for every participant and add key information like opening hours and contact details. A lot of participants are surprised to hear that while you do need a business address to verify your listing, you can make this address private. This is great for people with a home office who may not want their address to be in the public domain.

Your customers are looking for sites that open quickly - most people leave if a site takes more than three seconds to load. We learn how to use a Google speed check tool to check our sites’ speeds.

Nine out of ten people say they use multiple screens to search so it’s vital that your site loads equally well on all kinds of tech from smartphones to laptops.

Google likes secure sites. We learn about https sites and security checks.
