What’s the program all about?

The Work My Own Way program has a number of activities including coaching, workshops and meetups. All of these activities are standalone, meaning that you don’t have to commit to a full program.

Instead you can pick which activities you want to participate in and stack these together to create your own program tailored to your individual journey.

Who is it for?

The program is for anyone who wants to become self-employed. Whether you want to become a freelancer, a small business owner or startup founder, we’re here to give you the confidence and skills to get your business off the ground.

Shaun wanted a job that was not only flexible, but that helped him develop key social skills that he felt he needed to succeed in business. He's been self employed for over 15 years and become expert at how to self motivate and achieve goals, no matter how ambitious they might seem.

Kerryn is a powerhouse when it comes to supporting women. She started Girls with Hammers in 2018 with the aim of helping women realise their own power and strength through mentoring, workshops and books.

The Work My Own Way program includes a range of different activities that can be stacked together to support your individual journey. All of the activities are standalone, meaning that you can dial up or down the support as you need it.

  • Skill-building workshops: Hands-on workshops that will give you practical and tangible tools that you can apply to your business or idea straight away.

  • Meetups: Informal social events that allow you to connect with like-minded others and build your support network.

  • Mentoring: One-on-one mentoring sessions with a local Gippsland business leader that gives you tailored support, encouragement and accountability.

  • Business coaching: One-on-one coaching sessions with our inhouse business expert who can give you feedback and advice for your specific idea or business.

  • Professional services: Bookable one-on-one sessions with professional service experts such as lawyers, marketers and accountants.

  • Structured events: where you can connect to multiple local Gippsland business leaders to get different perspectives and supporton your biggest challenges.

 

This program is fully funded and there is no cost to participate.

The Work My Own Way program is part of the Entrepreneurship Facilitator Service by the Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business.

'The Herd Coworking offers formal and informal meeting space, hot-desks, and more permanent options for people aiming to move their business out of home.
